The Kitchen

Okay, I figured it's about time to show you all the new house, however I am only revealing one room at a time. They may not be 'perfect' yet and I can't promise they'll be super clean. They are ours and we love them the way they are (for now). We're going to slowly make new changes here and there. I'll try and keep you all updated as we go.

First, we'll start with the kitchen. It's small and compact but it gets the job done.

When we first looked at it, we thought that it was tiny and we'd never be able to fit much in it, but it has shocked us. At the apartment, all the cabinets and drawers were jam packed! Here, there is still some empty cabinets. There isn't a whole lot of drawers but we are making it work.

As you can see, we've resorted to keeping Adam's cast iron on top of the fridge for now. It works, I guess. Eventually we would love to get a fridge that extends all the way up, but I don't know if they make a tall, skinny fridge like that. This fridge is way to tiny for our needs, but we're making the best of it.

Here you can see our microwave and toaster oven. At the apartment we used to have a bread drawer, but there wasn't space for that here. For now we keep it on the counter. I suppose we could put in on a lazy susan (the kitchen has TWO of them) but I guess the counter works for now.

Here is our coffee station, Adam's phone charger and what not. The lazy susan is missing it's handle because Adam is *supposed* to put a child lock on it. Once the child lock is on, we'll put the handle back on. The middle drawer there, with the blue thing hanging out, is our rag drawer. Filled to the brim with cleaning rags, including my new microfiber ones that I bought. Underneath that drawer is where we keep the kids cups, bowls and silverware. I wanted somewhere that Miranda could reach so she can get her own stuff when necessary.

And, of course, the kitchen sink. It needs to be replaced, eventually, but it works for now. There is always dishes around, either drying or waiting to be washed. It's just how life goes in this house ...

And there you have it! Our new kitchen! Tune in tomorrow to see our dining room!

  1. It looks beautiful! I really like the cabinet doors and handles. I had that exact same oven before we moved to this house that has to have a gas range - I miss that easy to clean smooth top oven a LOT. Kitchens are always so hard to organize, big or small. Looks like you've done a great job!

    1. Thank you Jennifer! My microwave is actually over ten years old...it's not high tech at all. It was a hand me down from my brother and sister in law. It's originally meant for college students in dorm rooms. It's TINY. lol

    2. Funny! Ours is probably that old, too. BTW, what's with the NY logo on the fridge? I thought we were friends, Anjie!

    3. We're a mixed couple. Adam is a Red Sox fan and I'm a Yankees fan. (In reality, I don't care much about baseball. I'm a Yankees fan PURELY because it irks Adam and his family. lol) When football season comes around we reunite and are 100% Packers fans!

  4. Looks great! When you start looking for a fridge, try Sears outlet in newington. Most of our stuff has come from there at 70-80% off of retail. You can also still warranty the items which is awesome!

  5. Very happy for you and proud of you! We know how rewarding a tiny home is. Less to clean and maintain, less to heat and cool, less taxes... Keeps family close and cuddly and in touch with each other.
