The Dining Room

Wow, after all the wonderful responses to my kitchen, I'm afraid the rest of the house might be a disappointment.

Our dining room isn't anything spectacular. The table we've had for seven years and it cost us a whopping $100 from Walmart. One of the chairs broke and one is being used for Elliott's high chair hence the two folding Ikea chairs. You can see we decided to hang Elliott's newborn pictures up in it. Eventually we will put something exciting over the table, not sure what that will be yet.

The dining room was originally a very similar red and we liked the look of it a lot, so we painted it red again.

Here you can see the kitchen and we put our shadow boxes up in that corner. The blinds were left here from the previous owners. I'm not a big fan, but they work for now. On the wall there is an unpainted square where the phone jack used to be. We moved it for internet access since we have no home phone. Underneath Elliott's chair is a basket of bibs.

Haha...yes, I'm being silly by blacking out the living room. It's the little things that keep me smiling ....

Here you can see the door to the basement and our butcher block table which has become a sort of catch-all type place.

This is the door we use most often to get into the house. It leads out into the breezeway. We have hooks up for keys, purses, and swim diapers? Yikes...

Here's a better look at my $30 tag sale find butcher block table. I love this thing! It's awesome for holding things that don't really have a place yet... Eventually I envision this as a bill paying, family calender, message board type center... Wish me luck with that.

And there you have our dining room. Fancy, ain't it? Leave a comment, tell me what you think and of course, come back tomorrow for the living room!

  1. I love the red! I had a bathroom that color at our first house!! I think the "command center" on the butcher block table is a great idea. You could hang a magnetic board or chalkboard above it and it would look great!!

    1. Thanks Sharon! I envision a big calendar and definitely something magnetic and erasable for sure. I also need something to hold mail too.
