Flats Challenge Day Two

How did you Prepare?  List your supplies, where you bought them, how you made them, how much you paid, etc.

This is a good question although it will be somewhat hard to answer since I already had a lot of supplies on hand. This first thing I did to prepare was to buy some flats. I didn't have any prior to this challenge so I needed to get some. Nicki's Diapers was having a sale on their Imagine brand of flats where if you bought a dozen flats you got a free cover. So that's the route I went. I bought their printed flats in the pattern of Tree Friends. My free cover was a green snap Imagine cover. That cost me about $30 total.

Next I bought a 5 gallon bucket and lid from Home Depot which cost me about $4 total. I bought $2.50 plunger at Walmart. Adam improvised a handle for me for another $4-5 and he used scrap wood. A pair of rubber gloves for another $2.

Things that we already had on hand are the drying rack I'll be using. I forget how much it was but it was probably around $5. I have a clothesline already too but I don't know how much use I'll be getting from it since it's threatening rain all week long! I'm allowed to use my diaper sprayer which I already had on hand. That probably cost me about $25. I have travel wet bags that I might use if I go out and about during the week. My detergent will be a mix of Tide original and my homemade CD safe mixture. The other covers I already had on hand too. Mostly Happy Flute and one lonely Flip cover that I have left.

At night I'll be sticking with my bamboo prefold since I know it works and it should still be fairly easy to handwash. I don't really want to mess around with flats at night since that most likely means dealing with leaks.

I think that's about it for the supplies I'm using. So maybe $50ish total? Not bad.
