Happy Halloween?

I apologize for my week of silence on here. Last week I wasn't feeling well and was trying to deal with some difficulties that my family is facing. I'm not ready to go into details on here, but I appreciate everyone's patience.

Anyway, Friday afternoon rolls around. People had been gossiping about snow all week and I was trying to brush it off. Except the news was telling me that we'd be getting 6 to 10 inches and that it was going to be really wet, really heavy, and really dangerous.

Boy they weren't kidding. 

The snow started falling Saturday afternoon. Nicole and I took the kids out to Walmart for some supplies just as soon as the first flakes started to drop from the sky. (Bad idea! That place was *packed*.) By the time we were done in Walmart, the snow was coming down HARD and there was already a lot of accumulation on the ground. The flakes were huge and plentiful!

When we got home I let Miranda go outside to play with our neighbor's little boy. We were not prepared for a snow outing though so she had insufficient mittens and it took me a little while to convince her to put a hat on. We took Elliott outside only for a quick photoshoot in his first snowfall!

As you can see he was not amused. 

Not long after that, the storm started getting worse. There was thunder and lightning. Trees and branches were falling down everywhere. You could hear them almost constantly! We lost power as did over half of the state! At its highest count the power outages numbered to almost 900,000 people! Even as I sit here, two days later, over 700,000 people are still without power, myself included. 

The damage was extensive! Everywhere you looked there were trees, branches and power lines littering the ground.

Yesterday, Nicole went home and discovered that she has power! So, Adam and I packed us and the kids up and here we are until further notice. Everyone is here, dog and reptiles included! (They would have died if we had left them at the house with no heat!!)
