7 weeks old

I meant to do this with his one month post, but I got a little sidetracked. So, here is a random breakdown of Mr. Elliott Sawyer at 7 weeks old.

EATING:
He nurses like a champ, and I feed him on demand. It doesn't matter if it's been 10 minutes or a couple hours. He normally goes about 2 to 3 hours in between although he nurses way more during the day than at night (which I'm pretty happy about). He doesn't really like the bottle but he does tolerate if he needs to. He is definitely a major boobaholic though.

Nursing in public has become much, much easier for me. I can do it without a cover although I do prefer a nice quiet corner or some shielding at least. Lately it has just been WAY to hot to even attempt a cover so I just don't bother with it anymore. There was some local nursing in public drama here lately that made me really upset, but I think I'll save that for another day.

SLEEPING:
At night he's almost routinely every 3 hours starting at 9:00. He really only sleeps on his stomach. He hates being on his back most of the time, even swaddled. Last night he slept for a good 2 hours on his back at the beginning of the night but refused to be put back that way after his midnight feeding. I think he might tolerate it better once his startling reflex goes away.

ACTIVITY:
He's starting to have a lot more alert times during the day now. Sometimes for up to 2 hours at a time. He's getting pretty good at lifting his head up, both during tummy time and when being held upright. We're still wobbly at times but he's getting there. He's a bit of a momma's boy, preferring me to be the one caring for him over anyone else, especially Adam. He loves to snuggle though, even if it's way to hot to be snuggling. The only way I can put him down is either on his stomach or in the bouncer seat my angel of a neighbor is letting me borrow.

He loves pacifiers! He will tolerate a Nuk but he *really* loves his Soothie on his Wubbanub. He likes Gumdrops too, they're the same nipple shape as Soothies are. I love the 'Wub' (as we call it) because it actually stays put for long periods of time. I think it is seriously one of the best inventions of all time!! On Wednesday morning however, he found his thumb and actually sucked on that for a little while. It was pretty cute.
He tries extremely hard to roll over, in either direction. Occasionally he can kick himself onto his back when he's on his stomach. He is starting to figure out how it is done on purpose though. I still wouldn't call that milestone hit yet, but he's working on it. He can track things with his eyes and he loves to stare into faces. He 'talks' occasionally, usually only when he has the hiccups. I love his little coo's and the sounds he makes. Even his snoring is absolutely adorable. (He snores a lot.)

CLOTHING:
Believe it or not, he still fits in a lot of the newborn sized clothes we have. The 0 - 3 month stuff is still a bit big and baggy on him. We're slowly working our way into them though and I'm sure it won't be too long before he's completely outgrown all the newborn stuff.

Newborn diapers were starting to get a little snug so we upgraded him to ones, mainly because I had a huge box of them sitting around and I was sick of buying newborn packages every other day. He still goes through a gazillion diapers a day though, which is rather annoying. I think the next box will be the big 300 count one from Diapers.com. I will still be ordering size one though because he still has some growing room in those.

I really love the Pampers Swaddlers, especially the ones with the yellow line down the front that turns blue when he's wet. I think that is awesome! I'm not yet regretting my decision to hold off on cloth diapers though. Especially since there is a decent chance he is my last baby.

  1. I thought that I should add that since I wrote this post he has slept from 10 to 3:30 for three nights in a row now.
