I hope everyone had a safe and happy celebration last night. I stayed awake and was able to do a toast (with sparkling cider) and give my honey a kiss at midnight. It was bedtime almost immediately afterword though.
I've been going back through some old blog posts and I'd like to do the standard year-in-review, if you don't mind. It's always nice going down memory lane. Hopefully I'll be able to drag out the external later and get some pictures up.
This January is looking a lot like last year's January. Miranda is sick with a cough and cold again. We're doing her breathing treatments three times a day, sometimes more. Next Sunday we're going to see Disney on Ice courtesy of Grampy O. We're going as one big family and I am very, very excited!! I didn't get to go with her last year. I hope she is feeling better by then. We were struggling with tantrums, which we are still struggling with daily. I think it's a battle that almost every parent has to fight though.
February seemed like a standard month. Super Bowl, Valentine's Day, Adam's big ice fishing derby. We had a few nice days out as a family and did a lot of movie nights in. We started seriously thinking about adding a new dog to our family as well. We wanted to move even back then, but that never ended up happening. Let's hope for better changes in 2011.
March was eventful! Maverick came and joined our family. My gosh, he was so cute!! I have not once regretted taking him home. He fits so perfectly in with our family and is such a good family dog. His puppy stage was interesting and tiring but we've made it through. He's completely potty-trained and is really good in the house. We're still working on some obedience, but we'll get there. He still howls with us which is fun. Sometimes sirens will get him going as well. My IUD came out in March and so began our journey to conceive another child. The weather was nice and we spent a lot of time outdoors. Partly because of the weather and partly because of the puppy needing to be trained. His first vet visit was a huge success as well.
April was a lot of fun!! Miranda turned 3 years old and had an awesome birthday party. It's hard to believe that this upcoming April I will become a mom again. I keep telling Miranda she's getting a little brother for her birthday since he'll most likely arrive shortly after her birthday comes. We had a nice, low-key Easter Sunday. I love easy holidays like that. Miranda had a very successful yearly check-up with her new pediatrician. I love them and I hope to continue using them even if we do end up moving this year. The rest of the month seemed pretty normal.
May was a month of spring arriving. We spent a LOT of time outside in the sun and playing. I celebrated 5 years of marriage and Mother's Day with an amazing dinner and night out. Other than that, just more of the same. It seems like I was really enjoying my daughter that month and enjoying her being an only child. By next May she will no longer have that status, but I'm sure she'll be happy to finally have a sibling.
Most of my June blogging was spent doing a 30 days of meme. There was a runaway chicken that caused a bunch of drama. Since then we have found where the chickens live and now know to leave them alone when they happen to stray in the yard. We passed the 4 year mark since Quinne made her appearance in our lives. I also did quite a long post about Miranda and her abilities of the moment.
July was pretty uneventful. I wrote my bucket list and wrote about the Maverick dog. We celebrated the Fourth and did a few family outings. At the end of the month we went camping for an entire week. We took the dog but not Miranda. That was the longest I'd ever left her and while I did have fun I hated being away from her for that long. We took her to see a Rock Cats game as well that month.
In August I turned 25. We went to Lake Compounce and Miranda was an absolute angel all day long! We made a day trip to New York to visit some family friends. Miranda found herself a boyfriend for the day. I finally decided that I was going to blog for *me* and not for my readers. I'm sure some people frowned about this decision but oh well. We also took Miranda to see Toy Story 3 and she loved it. Miranda fell down the stairs and received her first fat lip. I had a lovely birthday celebration with my family and friends. We had a lot of day trips out as a family. We found out that Maverick does indeed know how to swim and he retrieves too! I switched my blog back to Blogger and lost everything from 2006! : (
September was more laid back. We had a end-of-summer BBQ party which was a big success. I took a temporary job at a Cafe down the road. My computer started giving me some major issues which meant that I wasn't able to blog as much. Also, I found out that we were expecting again and due only 7 days after Miranda was due.
In October we made a lot of trips to the Renaissance Fair. We loved going. Miranda started a ballet class which she loved. We did pumpkin picking and Miranda was a pirate for Halloween. We went to a Halloween party at my brother's house and Adam ended up winning second place in the costume contest. He was zombie Steve Irwin.
November seemed to be pretty easy-going as well. It started getting colder and fall was in full swing. I made it through the first trimester and had a few appointments, one where I was able to see the baby.
Now December is over and it's a New Year. December was easy and laid-back as well. Only one snow storm to report. We had an awesome Christmas and a great end to the year. I'm definitely looking forward to 2011 though!
