Miranda hasn't been feeling well for a week now. It started as the sniffles and turned into a horrendous cough. As long as there are no severe symptoms, I try to wait at least a week before visiting the doctor to see if her immune system can fight it off on its own. After that I turn to the medical field. I've left the TV on a lot more since she's been sick. I figure it's okay to encourage resting during this time.
Nicole and I brought her to the doctor today. She was running around the waiting room playing (acting so very sick...I might add *eye roll*). She did fine for almost the entire appointment. She loved being weighed (a whopping 25lbs...just over 3lbs heavier than 9.5 months ago) and measured (exactly 36" tall). Her temp was normal (97.6). The doctor checked her ears (clear). She listened to her chest and checked other areas that Miranda has been complaining about. Diagnosed her with a bronchial infection (a.k.a. RSV) and recommended albuterol nebulizer treatments 3 times a day for the weekend. At the end of the appointment, the doctor gave her a breathing treatment there. Poor Miranda had no warning. The doctor just turned on the machine and shoved the cup in front of my daughter's face. She freaked out! I swear it sounded as if we were killing her in that room. Now she screams for every treatment. The only thing that stops the screaming, cry and hysterics is a lollipop which means the medicine can't go in through her mouth like it's supposed to, just through her nose. Let's hope it's enough though. If the coughing persists until Monday, they want me to call back and possibly prescribe her antibiotics. I hope it doesn't come to that. She's only had to have antibiotics once due to an ear infection.
So that's about it ... please pray for my panda. Pray that her cough disappears.
