I'm thrilled to introduce to you Bennett Adam Orlowski. He was born on June 3, 2014 by scheduled c-section at 8:03am. He weighed 6lbs 13oz and was 18.5" long. He came out screaming and peeing. He was completely healthy and able to stay with me in the OR all the way up to the recovery room. The surgery was a little rough on me in general but by that afternoon I was feeling much better.
So far, baby Bennett is a very calm baby. He doesn't cry about much, only if he's being messed with (diaper changes or being put into his car seat for example). He nurses like a champ, definitely my best and easiest nursing baby. He has had a couple of really rough nights but for the most part he eats every 2-3 hours and sleeps great in between. He makes plenty of dirty and wet diapers and isn't having as terrible time with jaundice as my other kids did.
Miranda and Elliott have adjusted well to his arrival. Miranda is absolutely smitten with him and is extremely helpful to me. Elliott is a typical three year old little boy. He's normally much to busy to be bothered with the baby. He enjoys looking at Bennett though and occasionally poking him.
So far, Bennett has just slid into our lives pretty seamlessly. We've been exclusively cloth diapering and breastfeeding since he came home from the hospital. We do a load of cloth diapers every day on top of the regular laundry schedule I have. It hasn't been that much extra work at all. At this time, his cord is about to fall off and that will make diapering him a little easier although all the newborn diapers I have fit him perfectly. We have only had two leaks so far. Once was when I was trying out the preemie prefold and he out-wet it pretty quickly. The other was just a time that his diaper didn't get changed quickly enough. He should get to the 8-10lb range that everyone says the OS pockets fit in no time so that's exciting.
I hear him waking up now so hopefully I've filled you all in enough for now!
