On Saturday it was such a beautiful day that we decided to take Miranda out ice skating for the very first time. We were a little leery about taking her to an actual rink with lots of people yet. So, we got bundled up (probably too bundled up) and headed out to the lake next to Adam's father's house. They had a very small spot shoveled off on the ice and it was just perfect for us. We got out to the ice and Adam tried out his old skates first. It had been a long time since he last ice skated though and he didn't make it very long before he was taking them off again. I personally have never been, but seeing as that I'm almost 6 months pregnant and I just got out of the hospital, I didn't feel like trying. Then we got Miranda's skates on and Adam helped her skate around. She loved it!! She thought it was the greatest thing! Even after falling a couple times she was still having fun. I think it helped that she was so bundled up that falling didn't hurt. She did pretty good too! She lasted a while before we had to put her boots back on. Then we went for a nice walk across the ice. Our plan was to build a snowman in the middle of the lake, but Maverick decided otherwise. As soon as Adam had a good sized snowball rolling across the snow he bounded up and destroyed it in about .5 seconds. There went that great idea. Miranda tried to get us to walk all the way across the lake, but we knew it would be a long walk there and back and we eventually convinced her to turn around. Once we got back to the shoveled off part she put her skates back on and went skating some more. The last thing Adam did before we all headed home was play hockey with the dog. Maverick had an absolute blast chasing the hockey puck around. It was adorable to watch a boy play with his dog.
I know what you're all saying, "Where's the pictures??" and I'm sorry to tell you that there aren't any. I didn't want to risk bringing my DSLR out on the ice with us. I have been a slacker when it comes to pictures lately...should really step up my game.
Sounds like fun! I was just talking to DH about taking the girls skating soon. Glad Miranda had fun!
