I am really sick of people telling us they don't like our name choices for this baby. This is why we usually don't tell anyone the name until birth because people are douche bags and can't keep their damn mouths shut! This isn't your baby so if you do not like the names we picked, that's just too damn bad! I don't want to hear your opinion. It's not like we pick names that are super weird or anything! It's a normal name that Adam and I both like. It's not a name like Adolf Hitler or Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii! (True stories people!) Don't even get me started on celebrities!!
Now I'm not talking about random strangers online, I'm talking about friends and family here. People I see face to face all the time! Why in the hell would you think it's okay to respond to the names with "Ew!" or "He's going to be gay!" You really want to piss off the hormonal pregnant woman?? That's your opinion if you don't like the name but please keep it to yourself you selfish bastard! You either had or will have the chance to name your own damn kids, now it's our turn. Back the fuck off pricks. We're naming our baby what we want regardless of your opinion but there is no need to voice it.
I feel a little better and to top it off and possibly offend anyone who isn't already here is a list of some popular baby names that I can not stand!
Anything ending in aiden or ayden. There are 10 GAZILLION of these, enough is enough!

Valeria is #72. Really?? It sounds like a disease!
Anything not spelled normally. Just because it's spelled like a 2 year old would spell it does NOT make the name unique. It makes you sound retarded.
Last but not least: MAVERICK. That is not a PERSON name. It's a pet or POSSIBLY a nickname. Do NOT put that name on your kid's birth certificate.
However, just because I do not like these names, does not mean that I would say that to a person's face if they wanted to name their kid these things. It's THEIR baby and THEIR choice. I would just smile and nod or come up with something neutral to say about it. I would not insult their choice! That's just rude!

ReplyDeleteOMG I totally agree with Nevaeh or whatever. I absolutely hate it. It's not cute. It's not even a word. It's heaven spelled backwards. We've gotten flack for our girls' names. My mom hates that Rosslyn's middle name is Vertie and as soon as we told people we're gonna call the baby Aurelia, they began thinking of ways to shorten it and make it easier for them to say. So yeah, I'm with you on the whole leave my kid's names alone front.

ReplyDeleteThere are plenty of ridiculous names, but it's a personal choice. Our kid's middle name is Emory and would be the same if she were a boy. I can imagine folks would talk crap, but we would've done it anyway.
As my mom would say "eff 'em and feed 'em beans"! (She wouldn't say eff though.)
