The Season of Thanks

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, it's like a big slap in the face to me to be thankful for what Adam, Miranda and I DO have. There is so much we DON'T have that it overwhelms my thoughts sometimes. So, I thought I'd sit down and make a list of what I am thankful for this holiday season.

  • First and foremost, I am thankful for my family's good health. Adam, Miranda and I are rarely sick. I know that this will change once Miranda enters the school system, but for now I am very thankful that we rarely have any health issues. Most of the extended family is pretty healthy as well and that is always something to be thankful for.
  • I am so, so thankful for my husband, my daughter and my unborn child. I am thankful that my husband and I have an unconditional love that seems to conquer all. No matter what disasters come our way we  are ever loving, ever faithful. I am thankful that my daughter is my beacon of happiness. She's always in a good mood and is oblivious to the financial problems and drama surrounding us. She is what keeps my emotions up during these hard times. I am thankful for the growing child inside of me, even though I know it will only mean more financial stress. He/She is healthy and even more oblivious of what's going on. Right now, he/she is my peaceful place. When I just need to chill out a little bit, I love to lay down with my hand on my stomach and immerse myself into thinking about the smell of a newborn baby, the snuggles, the happiness and joy that new life brings.
  • I am thankful for the roof over our head, the food on our table, the clothes on our bodies, the shoes on our feet. All of these things are quickly slipping from our fingers so I am ever thankful for them while I have them.
  • I am thankful for our awesome friends and family. They are always there to lend an ear, give advice and help when and where they can.

My family and I are so blessed even during times of turmoil, even when I can't see it. I hope everyone has a very happy Thanksgiving!
