Pet Peeve #1

I'm feeling in a very sharing mood with you today and I think I'm going to, slowly, share some of my biggest pet peeves. The first one that I want to share isn't because it's the worst offender, but just because it is fresh on my mind.

Moms with young girls might relate with me on this.

While reading Miranda her bedtime story, I noticed something that has crossed my mind before but bothers me every time it does. Fancy Nancy's sister doesn't have a name!! Why is that?? Isn't it the #1 rule of writing a book to give names to all your characters? I know it's just a child's book. It shouldn't bother me that much, but it does.

It's like when a family has two daughters. If the older daughter is always better, smarter, skinnier, prettier, etc... the younger sibling often gets over-shadowed, unintentionally or not. I feel like that is what is being shown in the Fancy Nancy books. I love how cute the stories are otherwise but this one issue really gets to me.
