Weekend Recap

(P.S. This post took me a long time to write because my power cord is broken so my computer keeps shutting off. Also, it's long. I'm sorry.)

We had a fun, on-the-go weekend here.

Friday was a pretty easy day. I spent the morning doing my normal, at home routine. Nicole was going to come over later on during the day. She ended up coming over while Miranda was napping but luckily, Adam was home so we headed out to Best Buy to spend the rest of my birthday gift card. My printer was out of black ink, so I ended up buying a two pack of ink as well as a workout DVD. Jillian's 30 Day Shred, which I'm pretty excited about starting. We had a simple dinner of leftovers that evening, with no other plans of anything exciting.

That was, until I was checking Facebook. My Aunt's status update had mentioned a hot air balloon festival and fireworks that sounded way better than what we were doing. Adam was going to play poker with his dad so he wasn't able to join us. Nicole, Miranda, all the dogs, and I all hopped in the car and headed out that way. The problem was, everyone else within a 50 mile radius had the same exact idea as us. The car ride that should have taken us 10 minutes took us over an hour! Yuck! We did get there eventually and got ourselves settled in. When Maverick started acting up a little bit, I took him for a little walk around the park while Miranda stayed with my Aunt. It helped a little and eventually he did lay down and settle. There was quite a bit of time in between the lighting of the balloons and the fireworks so everyone was just kind of waiting around, listening to the music and socializing.

All of a sudden, while we were eating, there was this jet of water coming from the ground right in front of us. At first everyone was confused, and then we put the pieces together. It was the lawn sprinklers!! Someone had forgot to turn them off! A few people around us got SOAKED including my Aunt. Luckily, she had Miranda on her lap, snuggled up into a blanket so she used the blanket as a shield to most of the water. A guy from the crowd, ended up standing on top of the sprinkler for a while until it was finally shut off. Crazy! The fireworks started at 9:30 and they were amazing. Miranda was trying to 'catch' them while sitting on Nicole's lap. Very cute. Maverick watched them for about 2 minutes and then fell asleep. We didn't end up getting home until 11 that night. Luckily traffic wasn't nearly as bad on the way home.

On Saturday, we were all pretty wiped and slept in a bit. After our weekend chores were completed, we headed out to visit Adam's cousin who just had a baby 6 weeks ago. I was super excited to hold a little being again. It's been too long since I held a baby. Miranda was very excited to meet her cousin as well. She was in awe at how cute and little he was, yet he looked almost as big as her! lol We had lunch there as well, yummy pizza, and I was happy to just hang out with family. I was so happy for them to have such an awesome little baby but it did make me a little sad that I'm not pregnant with my own little person yet. *sigh*

When we got home, Miranda went down for nap. It went a little late because we had late dinner reservations with Adam's brother, his girlfriend and two good friends of ours. We went out to a hibachi, which is good for us because we all love the food, but bad because Miranda still does not like the big flare ups of fire. She did fine though, with no tears, which was good. Dinner was delicious, as always, but expensive. I think next time a hibachi is mentioned, I'm going to say no because it's just too outrageously priced! There was a Ben & Jerry's ice cream across the street so we went and got Miranda a small cone and Adam and I shared a larger one. A perfect ending to a great day.

Sunday was also very, very busy. We were up early to go to breakfast at Adam's dad's house. That was really yummy and fun. Maverick had a grand ol' time playing with Tessie and her toys. It's always good to spend time with Miranda's Grampy. When we got home around lunch time, I ran downtown for a job interview. My neighbor/friend hooked me up with a short term, part time job while one of their waitresses is on maternity leave. Once she comes back, I might be just a float for them whenever someone needs some time off. However, it's something, it's some extra money and I can get there reliably, which is nice. Let's hope this is the blessing that Adam and I have been asking for. I start tomorrow and I'm both nervous and excited at the same time.

Then it was time for my dad's birthday party which was a TON of fun. It was nice to be outside with family and friends. I got to see some relatives that I don't see very often. We all talked, ate delicious foods, Adam drank beer and a lot of people took on games of horseshoes. I even received a few cards and gifts myself which was unexpected!

When we got home last night, I was exhausted and definitely ready for bed. I was very thankful for a slow, relaxing Monday before I start my job. I hope you'll all join me in wishing me the best of luck that I don't screw up too much.
