Normally, pets are fluffy and cute. Scarlett is neither. She's leathery and kind of ugly... But, our friend needed help. He wants to keep his snake but can not financially handle it nor does he have anywhere to put her giant 72 gallon tank.
Fear of snakes is one of the most common phobias today. I, myself, have never really been 'afraid' of snakes. I certainly never went out looking for them or anything but they don't give me the heebie-jeebies either. I normally have a very 'live and let live' philosophy with just about any creature. My brother used to own a ball python and I always thought it was a neat thing to look at, but I didn't really think I'd ever end up with one in my house.
However, I'm a softie when it comes to friends in need, and my husband is doing all the work involved so, she now resides with us. It's supposed to be temporary but I'm not sure our friend will ever be able to take her back, so it may not be. Adam is extremely happy and borderline obsessed with our new 'family member' though. *sigh*
