Hello everyone!
Things have been going really well over here. We had a really nice weekend. Saturday we decided to go for a walk down at Tunxis. Maverick met some other dogs, including a 14 week old Labradoodle that was almost the same size as him. He's doing really well on walks, although he still needs a lot of reminding to stay at your side and not pull. I'm thinking of getting a Halti head collar for him. I was watching a vlog where the woman is raising a guide dog puppy. She had a similar issue with her pup that we're having with Maverick and this is the tool she used to help correct it so I'm tempted to try the same thing with our puppy. I have never seen a dog try to put absolutely everything in his mouth as much as Maverick does, so it's really nice to know that I'm not alone and that he will outgrow this behavior, hopefully.
The weather continued to be absolutely beautiful all weekend. Saturday afternoon, we decided to have a picnic outside for dinner. (Miranda says "picinic".) Adam made steak on the grill and we had asparagus and mashed potatoes as the sides. We laid some blankets on the ground just out of reach of Maverick's tie-out. He actually did really well and didn't beg too badly. Miranda really liked being able to eat dinner outside. After dinner, Adam started a fire in our little homemade fire pit and we made Awesome S'mores. We don't use bar chocolate when we make s'mores. We use Reese's Peanut Butter Cups that we sit on the cracker near the fire pit so the chocolate and peanut butter get all warm and gooey. Mmm, delicious! I will never eat just a plain chocolate s'more again.
Sunday we did chores around the house, went grocery shopping and Adam washed the Jeep while Miranda napped. Dinner time, we went over to Adam's dad's house for some delicious stuffed cheeseburgers. Tessie and Maverick still get along pretty well, but I think that relationship will go a lot better when Mav is out the puppy stage.
Yesterday was pretty uneventful. My mother's cat was getting spayed by T.E.A.M. and I offered to go get the cat when it was time to pick her up. Adam had been able to leave the Jeep at the police station, right down the road so I walked down there with kid and dog in tow and drove the Jeep back home. It turned out that I didn't need to do that though because no more than half an hour after I got back, Adam walked through the door. So, anyway, the day went on as normal and we picked up the cat without incident. Since it was my brother's birthday yesterday, he came over after work. After dinner, we all sat down and sang him Happy Birthday and ate cake. Yum!
Today it's rainy and dreary, so there will be no playing outside today. The dog is spending his time torturing the cats and Miranda is watching Signing Time, playing with her Baby Alive doll and scooping beans. (A very cheap, easy sensory and fine motor skills activity that keeps her entertained for at least an hour!) She's doing really well with having the puppy around and is acting so grown-up these days. *sigh*
Sounds like a busy weekend. Bella loves scooping beans, too.
